Here are 10 sneaky plays that I like this week in NBA Fantasy, all with relatively low ownership numbers. Give these guys a look in both weekly and daily leagues.
Terrence Jones (4 games, 47% owned in Yahoo leagues)
I’ve been on the Terrence train for a while and up until recently that has been relatively fruitless, but after starting last game and putting up a huge line of 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal and 4 blocks, it looks like Alvin Gentry might have finally come to his senses. If he continues to start on a very shallow team, he can have some huge games. Let’s just hope coach Gentry gives him some extended run because, as we saw last game, Terrence can really fill it up.
Nick Young (4 games, 14% owned)
After it looked like Nick Young’s career in the NBA was close to being over in the offseason, he is actually thriving under Luke Walton and a renewed defensive attitude. Swaggy P is playing too well to be ignored under Luke Walton and had 22 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block in a win over Phoenix, while playing a team-high 35 minutes. You could do a lot worse than plugging him in this week as he looks to have carved out a substantial role for the Lakers.
Ersan Ilyasova (4 games, 17% owned)
In his first 2 games in Philadelphia, Ersan Ilyasova has immediately had an impact, playing 28 minutes in his last outing and scoring 21 points including 4 3-pointers. Brett Brown looks like playing him a lot so he can put up 20+ points on any given night with a few boards thrown in.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (4 games, 58% owned)
Over his past 2 games MKG has averaged 6 pts, 11.5 reb, 1.5 ass, 2.5 st and 1 blk and his ability to contribute across the board, especially on defense, makes him a reliable fantasy option. His minutes are safe and you could do a lot worse
Sergio Rodriguez (4 games, 51% owned)
“Spanish Chocolate” has emerged as the point guard to own in Philly, and has averages of 9.7pts, 4.7reb and a whopping 9 assists over his last 3 games. He will have his share of turnovers (3.7 per game over his last 3) but you can live with that while he’s a double-double threat nightly.
CJ Miles (4 games, 27% owned)
CJ has the green light off the Indiana bench, and he’s as streaky as they come, but he can score in bunches when he gets hot. He will likely be a liitle inconsistent with minutes in the low 20s but he will be hitting 3s and getting steals with somewhat regularity
Sean Kilpatrick (3 games, 48% owned)
After a great start to the season coming off the bench in Brooklyn, “Skillpatrick” has had to step up even more since Jeremy Lin went down, and he hasn’t disappointed. In just under 29 minutes he is averaging 18.7pts, 5.3reb, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals over his last 3, and looks to be filled with confidence under Kenny Atkinson. He is locked in to major minutes, especially with Lin out at the moment, and has definite fantasy appeal.
Tyler Johnson (3 games, 49% owned)
This man has been on a tear over his last couple for the Heat, putting up 19pts, 4reb, 2 ass, 2.5st and 2blks (wow). He looks locked in to a major role in Miami and is delivering the goods in a huge way right now. He will likely lose a few minutes once Josh Richardson is back at full strength, but cash in now while the going is good!
Trevor Booker (3 games, 52% owned)
We’ve already spoken about T-Book quite a bit the last couple of weeks, but he is still available in a lot of leagues. Booker is a high energy guy who will get defensive stats as well as being a double-double threat on a nightly basis
JJ Barea (2 games, 44% owned)
With Deron Williams out, Barea is locked into major playing time. He played 46 minutes in his last outing and the Mav’s actually got their first win in OT against the Bucks. JJ had 21, 6 and 5 and is going to provide value for as long as Deron is out. The Mav’s only play 2 games this week, but in DFS he will be a sneaky play for sure.
